We had our very special friend Emarina come and show us our new Clendon Park School tohu. We talked about what the different parts of the tohu meant and then we looked at who lives in our community or Hāpori.
... and then we made a collage of our Hāpori. Our best people or places in our community are ...
Kiwi Can, Maki Tānara (McDonalds), Jump World and our whānau! Tino nīti mātou!
Kia ora and welcome to Room 24's blog! We will be posting lots of pictures and videos showing what we are learning at school. Please take time to look through our blog and leave a comment. You can see different curriculum areas by clicking on the tabs below. Happy viewing! From Room 24 Kiwiz... that's us!

WE MADE STONE SOUP!
Matua Dudley helped us make Stone Soup and YES it was stone soup! First we added some stones to the pot... the main ingredient (of course we removed the stones before we cooked our soup).
Then we all added some chicken. So that means we all had 2 pieces of chicken to eat!
We added our hua whenua (veges) and secret ingredient (Cream of chicken soup)!...
... and there you have it... yummy STONE SOUP!

This little writer is super super clever!
Kia ora to Kholarni's whānau,
A time to celebrate Kholarni's writing!
If you look, Kholarni has started her writing with a capital letter and has finished with a full stop, her picture matches what she has written PLUS her writing is legible meaning it is easy to read. What an inspirational role model you are to us all in Room 24. He mihi mīharo tēnei ki a koe Kholarni!

We are so lucky!
Kia ora koutou,
We all received a gift each from our community social worker Whaea Delcia. Our gifts were so huge we couldn't carry them all back to class! Today, we were blessed!

Setting a goal and going for it!
Today during Kiwi Can we also learnt the importance of setting a goal! We learnt this through throwing a toy into either the first or second hoop. Ka pai koutou me tō kaha ki te whiu taputapu ki te tarawhiti!

Kiwi Can in the house!
Today Matua Joe and Matua Richard from Kiwi Can came to our class to talk to us about MAHITAHI or co-operation. We played 'Frogs and Crocodiles'. We learnt how to keep each other safe. It was fun!
Tamariki were asked what was the name of our school... and Mahaani answered...??

Oral language in Te Reo Māori
Today we practised saying a new Te Reo Māori sentence. This is the sentence we have been building up to read and write for the last 2 weeks. We have done so well! Following are some videos of some of us trying to say this sentence. The sentence goes... "Titiro ki te pītiti nei" which in English means "Look at this peach". Please have a look and leave a comment! Awesome work Room24!
Anei ko Anton e kōrero ana i te rerenga kōrero nei! Anton's pronunciation is really good. He likes to give things a go even if it's hard! Too much Anton. Nei rā te mihi ki a koe e tama.
Anei ko Kiriwi e kōrero ana i te rerenga kōrero nei! Kiriwi is one of the quiet ones in our classroom but OH MY he did fantastic today. He was also singing up a storm when we sang the Moana song "We know the way". That's another video!
Anei ko Lucas e kōrero ana i te rerenga kōrero nei. Lucas is starting to read this sentence fluently. He is also the first one to point too and say the word at the same time which is brilliant! He is going to be a really strong tuakana in our class!
Anei ko Mahaani e kōrero ana i te rerenga kōrero nei. Mahaani comes with a lot of innate understanding of Te Reo Māori. She likes to kōrero Māori all the time. Another tuakana in the making. Taputapu kē koe e te kōtiro!
